The Gallery Trail
This part of Scotland is home to some special galleries set in beautiful countryside. Our very own Gallery Trail offers the chance to visit some unique galleries while at the same time taking in some spectacular scenery along the route. The Trail includes The Milton Gallery which is situated at the 'The Milton of Crathes' on the banks of the River Dee. It is within walking distance of Crathes Castle and Banchory via the old Royal Deeside railway line. The Gallery was established in 1997 to promote and support local artists and now showcases aspiring and established artists from all over Scotland. The Gallery is set within a courtyard of renovated farm steadings and is adjacent to the acclaimed Milton Restaurant, a gift shop, applied arts studio, textile and craft workshop, and the Royal Deeside Railway.
The Lang Byre Gallery, Woodend Barn
Visual arts exhibitions are featured in the Lang Byre Gallery at Woodend Barn, a community based arts venue situated on the outskirts of Banchory.
NEOS - North East Open Studios
In September a collective of artists, makers and galleries open their doors to the public in a major event known as NEOS or North East Open Studios. NEOS shows the fantastic range of artistic talent to be found in the area, including ceramics, furniture, glass, jewellery, leather, multimedia, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, straw, textiles and woodturning.
