Head out to the Soft Bear Play Centre in Strachan for a host of child-friendly activities open from 10am Friday, Saturday and Sunday plus all school holidays.
For lunch why not visit the award-winning Finzean Farm Shop where hearty, homemade food and a friendly local welcome awaits.
Now back through Banchory to Crathes Castle for some fresh air, where wee ones can brave the raindrops in the adventure playground, while older teenagers can test their nerve on Go Ape, an aerial walkway with thrills! If you are forced indoors, Crathes hosts Arting Around, offering craft activities and soft play area Thu - Sun during the summer 1 - 5pm. There are also occasional outdoor picnic plays so check with Crathes.
Just across the road from Crathes is the Royal Deeside Railway which runs diesel and steam trains every weekend and some weekdays during the summer
Now because it's raining everyone deserves a treat, so a trip to Continental Cream in Banchory centre is in order, where you'll find everything from old fashioned boilings to ice cream and frozen yoghurt, as well as possibly the friendliest sweetie shop owners in the land!
